Edifier’s WH700NB headphones are over the head, on-ear headphones with a foldable design (the ear cups fold inwards to be flat making them easy for travelling with) and have an adjustable headband. With different colour options, I received mine in ivory and despite me preferring black I actually like the ivory colouring.

There are three things that are important to me when using headphones; comfort, battery life and audio quality. The WH700NB deliver on all three counts. As I’m sitting here writing this, I am listening to Theory of a Deadman and actually forgot that I was wearing them! They are lightweight (271g) with padded headband and ear cups (or Skin-Friendly Ear Cushions as Edifier call them, which is an apt description as they gently cushion the ears for comfortable wearing and a an excellent listening experience).

These are the kind of headphones you can wear for a marathon gaming session, binge watching your favourite boxset, listening to TOAD and other favourite artists, walking to work or going for jog or even a transatlantic flight without feeling like your head’s in a vice. And with a headband that adjusts more than your grandpa’s TV antenna, they’re sure to fit heads of all shapes and sizes.

In short, they are extremely comfortable.

So, how do they sound? I had two different listening experiences with these headphones. I have used them on my phone and my laptop. The laptop listening experience was far superior; loud and clear, with crisp vocals and a decent bass. My phone (which I’ve had for 4 or 5 years) sounded a bit flat and dull in places until I installed the Edifier app and adjusted some settings. Although I still preferred the sound for my newer laptop, maybe it’s time to start thinking about a newer, updated phone.

Anyway, once I got the settings sorted on my phone to near the laptop sound, the sound quality is excellent – crisp and clear with no distortion at louder volume levels and higher frequencies from their 40mm dynamic drivers with titanium coated diaphragm. And then there’s the active noise cancellation (ANC) – once enabled, it is superb at blocking out unwanted noises from your environment whether indoors or outdoors, making the listening experience much more enjoyable (although do be aware that battery life is reduced when enabled). These headphones don’t just cancel noise; they obliterate it. It’s like having a personal mute button for the world. And with a multi-mode ANC that adapts to your environment, you can switch from silent solitude to being aware of your surroundings faster than you can say “Edifier”.

So, in short again, they sound terrific with superb quality and even better ANC to block out the sound of everyday life around you giving you distraction-free listening.

Now on to the battery life. The Edifier WH700NB have up to an extremely impressive 68 hours battery life from a single charge, enough to get you through a standard working week. Battery life depends on settings that you use, volume level and even what type of music you listen to etc. You can achieve 68 hours usage with ANC disabled and not using at the highest volume levels. Enable ANC with same volume levels and music etc, you can still expect to achieve an impressive 45 hours before looking for your charging cable and outlet. And should you happen to run out of battery before the week is out, pop them on charge for 10 minutes and get up to 8 hours usage, that should be enough time to get you home and give them a proper charge.

That all adds up to a fantastic listening experience. But the features don’t stop there. We always have our phones with us, and not just for listening to music! There are times when we actually need to take or make a phone call! No problem, you don’t even need to remove the headphones as these headphones feature ENC enabled voice pick-up with AI enhancement for clear hands-free calls. By pressing the discreet button on the earcup you can answer calls, reject calls and hang up easily and the quality is so good that you could be standing next to the person speaking to you, it is so clear. With their DNN noise-cancelling microphone, your voice will come through clearer than a bell.

And we can’t forget the gamers. Switch into gaming mode to enhance your gaming experience with better lip-sync performance, while pinning down any whereabouts through sound cues. In their low latency mode delivering audio in as little as 0.08s, sound is hitting your ears at near perfect speed! You will never miss a beat … or creeping footsteps behind you!

And for those that use headphones on different devices, such as a phone and laptop, these headphones support dual device connection, allowing you to effortlessly switch between music, online meetings, videos, and calls on two different devices at the same time. This feature is a game-changer for multitaskers and professionals who need seamless integration with their digital lives.

And I can’t forget the free Edifier Connect app that allows you to manage your headphones, customise settings, read the manual, switch modes and even view battery levels. A quick an easy way to configure the headphones for your own personal gaming and listening experiences.

Overall, the Edifier WH700NB noise cancellation wireless headphones are a testament to Edifier’s commitment to quality, innovation, and user satisfaction. They offer superb sound quality, excellent noise cancellation, impressive long battery life, superb easy wearing comfort and easy connectivity.

I love the comfort of these headphones, although during the recent hot weather my ears did get quite hot after an hour or so (but then I do get hot quickly, it only takes a glimpse of the sun from a darkened room). The audio quality is excellent, whether that’s just listening to something or taking calls. And as for the ANC, well that has to be heard (or not) to be believed, it is fantastic at eliminating external sounds so you can focus on and enjoy what you are listening to. Excellent for indoor and outdoor use.

And all that quality is delivered for under £50!
