I love a cup of tea first thing in the morning. But I have a very bad habit of making one, putting it down and getting sidetracked by doing else and then my tea goes cold. And I hate taking a sip of a cold brew. But now I have a new gadget that ensures that my cuppa remains at perfect drinking temperature for as long as it takes me to drain the cup, whether that’s 5 minutes or 50 minutes. So, what is this magical gadget? It’s the ikago Smart Mug Warmer.
Yes, I know that mug warmers have been around for a while so aren’t anything new. But this isn’t a run-of-the-mill mug warmer. For a hi-tech age, this is a hi-tech mug warmer; complete with touch controls, IR sensors, and an auto-off feature! There is nothing worse than picking up a cuppa, whether you are a tea or coffee drinker, and taking a sip of a stone-cold brew. If like me, you’re a tea drinker, it should be made using a rolling boiling from the kettle at 100°C (212°F) – green and other teas require a lower temperature – the ideal brewing temperature for coffee is approx. 90-95°C (195-205°F). This is too hot to drinking straight away, especially as I don’t add much milk (10ml is enough for me). The perfect drinking temperature for tea or coffee is around 60°C (140°F). An excellent feature with safety at its core, and safety is paramount, if you leave your mug sitting inactive for 2 hours, it will automatically shut off. I love the mug; it’s 100% handmade, black with the word ikago in white on the front and is a good size, holding a generous 15oz. The spoon/stirrer feels good quality, nice and sturdy, and can even stay in the mug with the lid on as the lid has a nice little cut-out for the spoon handle. And I am very fussy with mugs that I use, I have my favourites and stick with them – they need to be a good size with a good sized handle – the mug in this set is perfect, good to hold, holds 15oz of liquid and is nice and comfortable to drink out of – it gets my fussy seal of approval. Good mugs are hard to find!

Overall, I love the ikago Smart Mug Warmer & Mug Set. It looks good and sits discreetly on my desk. It works fast, and I love being able to set my own constant drinking temperature so that my brew retains its heat and flavour. The touch panel is simple to use, using just plus or minus touch controls to set the temperature – and the display will show the required drinking temperature and the current drinking temperature above it.
As for the mug, I’m fussy with mugs but I love the one that comes in this set. It looks and feels good and it holds a good amount, not too little and not far too much like those massive infamous sports shop mugs.
